Now that comic book movies have almost taken over mainstream media both DC Films and Marvel Studios have a stacked year ahead.

DC Films, now spearheaded by Geoff Johns, is releasing 3 films in 2017 including Lego Batman, Wonder Woman, and Justice League.

Marvel Studios, still owned by Disney, is also releasing 3 films in 2017 with Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol.2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok.

Finally we have Fox Studios releasing what might be the most anticipated comic book movie of the year with Logan.

Remember, this isn’t a competition between the MCU and the DCEU, but instead just a whole lot of comic book movies we are looking forward to.

Also notice that The X-Men are collectively taking a little break in 2017, while they get their act together and figure out what year they are stuck in.

Lego Batman

After Lego Batman proved himself to be a breakout star of The Lego Movie, he landed his own solo flick, which we expect to be just as awesome.

Keep an eye out for The Condiment King as well.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble โ€“ LEGO Batman โ€“ stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.ย

Will Arnett reprises his starring role from The LEGO Movie as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis (Muppets Most Wanted, the Hangover films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s Arrested Development) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s Daredevil) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the Harry Potter films) as Alfred.

The LEGO Batman Movie is directed by Chris McKay and produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee, who worked together on The LEGO Movie. It is written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, with additional screenplay material by Jared Stern & John Whittington, based on LEGO Construction Toys. Jill Wilfert, Matthew Ashton and Will Allegra serve as executive producers.ย

The LEGO Batman Movie will open in theaters on February 10, 2017.

Logan

After the first Logan trailer broke all of our hearts, we have never been more excited to see Wolverine in a movie.

Hugh Jackman returns for the last time as the titular character in this R-rated movie that will introduce fan-favorite X-23.

Seriously, he puts his claws through the top of a mans skull…

“Logan takes place in the year 2024, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan’s vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn’t seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn’t over yet.”

Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.

Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is already being described as a cosmic buddy comedy with Hulk joining forces with the God of Thunder.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok promises to give fans a blend of stylistic humor and grit thanks to its comic book roots. The movie has been rumored to tie-in elements of Planet Hulk, and those reports were more-or-less confirmed at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

The cast of Thor: Ragnarok features returning stars Chris Hemsworth (Rush) in the title role for the fifth time; Tom Hiddleston (Kong: Skull Island) as Thor’s adversarial, adopted brother, Loki; Idris Elba (The Dark Tower) as the Asgardian sentry, Heimdall; and Sir Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs) again portraying Odin, Ruler of Asgard. Newcomers to the franchise include Cate Blanchett (Cinderella) as the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela, Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park) as the eccentric Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson (Creed) as the classic hero Valkyrie, Karl Urban (Star Trek) as Skurge, and Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers) reprising his role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
