DC has provided ComicBook.com with an exclusive preview of Dark Knight III: The Master Race #8, the series’ penultimate chapter.

The official soliciation text tells us very little — only that “Baal’s Kryptonian army has invaded Themyscira” and “Wonder Woman and the Amazons will show them why that was a deadly mistake.”

There’s a lot at stake, of course, with the children of Superman and Wonder Woman caught in the middle of this battle.

“I’ve been particularly brutal to Superman, but that’s not because I don’t like the character; it’s because the point-of-view has always been Batman’s,” Miller told ComicBook.com. “If I did a story where Superman was the lead character, Batman would be the antagonist. I adore Superman, it’s just that Batman does not, so when I’m writing Batman, I do not. It’s very much a writer’s job to take on a character’s point of view. Personally, I grew up watching the Fleischer Superman cartoons and reading Superman. I even liked all the stuff with the flying dog and all that. So these are characters I’m completely in love with and Dark Knight for me is a project in which these characters are relished. They’re enjoyed as the rich creations they are.”

With the series winding down, Miller is expected to write the fourth Dark Knight story by himself (he consulted writer Brian Azzarello on this one), and has expressed interest in continuing the series more or less indefinitely, and in working on spinoffs like a story centering on Carrie Kelley.

You can check out the exclusive preview pages and six covers to the issue in the attached image gallery. Dark Knight III: The Master Race is in stores next Wednesday, March 29.
