The series launches in October as part of Eisner winner Gerard Way’s Young Animal imprint, set to launch in September with Doom Patrol.

“I am thrilled to help bring DC’s Young Animal to life, having been raised on experimental 80s and 90s takes on superheroes,” Way said at the Emerald City Comic Con when the announcement was made. “I see Young Animal as a place to try new ideas- following the spirit of those books from the past but bring them somewhere else,” explains Way. “I see it as an imprint where we can explore fine art, bold concepts, mature themes, and strangeness- with lots of heart.”

You can the solicitation out below, and in the gallery attached you can find the cover for October’s Doom Patrol, Shade, the Changing Girl, and Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye.

DOOM PATROL #2

Written by GERARD WAY • Art and cover by NICK DERINGTON • Variant cover by MICHAEL ALLRED

Retailers: This issue will ship with two covers. Please see the order form for details.

What happened to Larry Trainor? The hero known as Negative Man is still out there, but he’s not exactly the same guy he was back when Doom Patrol was still together. Like a Russian doll, there is man inside the man, and who knows how many other men inside of them, with the guy on top possessing a mind for mischief that incites violence.

Meanwhile, Casey has started rebuilding Robotman, even though she still doesn’t know exactly how Cliff Steele ended up crossing her path in the first place.

On sale OCTOBER 12 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US • MATURE READERS

Doom Patrol will pair Way with artist Nick Derington as they pick up the torch left by Grant Morrison on one of the DCU’s strangest teams. Shade, The Changing Girl, written by Cecil Castellucci and drawn by Marley Zarcone, features a story about an alien that takes over the body of a 16-year-old bully and follows the aliens’ attempt to live a life on earth.

Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye teams Way up with Jon Rivera and artist Michael Avon Oeming as they follow the adventures of Cave Carson, his cybernetic eye, and his daughter. Finally, Mother Panic, written by Way and Jody Houser and drawn by Tommy Lee Edwards, puts us in the shoes of Violet Paige, a vigilante who uses her considerable influence in the upper edges of society to fight crime in Gotham City.

The imprint will launch with Doom Patrol in October. You can see the other covers in the gallery.
