The Alfred actor sat down with the rest of the Gotham cast to talk to ComicBook.com’s Dallas Jackson at San Diego Comic-Con. It was there that he teased what’s coming this season for Bruce Wayne’s protector.
“The question like Bruno had, our showrunner and John Stevenson and Danny Cannon sort of broached was why is he there?” said Pertwee. “And I think people sort of got appalled initially Ya know at my sort of bristliness and nature towards young Master Bruce because that’s not the Alfred people expected it to be but he never asked to be a Father, he never asked to be there necessarily but he swore an oath. But what is that oath? That’s what we’re going to discover in season 4. We’re going to start to see more of Alfred in this.”
Pertwee explains that this take on Alfred definitely fits the show’s overall vision.
“That’s what I love about the show really. We sort of have to start somewhere. We’re seeing people at a time where they’ve never been seen before and it’s called Gotham because it’s about how it molds people, ordinary people into becoming extraordinary people.”
In fact, he wouldn’t mind seeing the cast of Gotham have a crack at a full film either.
“Absolutely. I would love nothing more than to be involved in a cinematic version. The end of this season when they had the two episodes together, that was almost like a movie and I’d like to see more of that.”
