Although Gotham has certainly taken some creative liberties from the DC Comics universe, it has been embraced by fans for showing the origin stories of many of the universe’s famous villains. While Batman foes such as The Riddler, The Penguin, and Catwoman have appeared throughout other DC live-action media, Gotham has been able to approach the characters in a new and exciting way.

With that in mind, many fans are often wondering what pieces of Batman lore the series will introduce next. As two of the show’s ensemble cast members revealed, there is a chance that one villainous group – the Gotham City Sirens – could be fully forming in the show’s later episodes.
For the uninitiated, the Gotham City Sirens are an alliance between Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. While versions of those characters already exist in the Gotham lore – or could in the very near future – the group has yet to actually form. The closest thing fans have gotten has been the dynamic between Barbara Kean (Erin Richards) and Tabitha Galavan (Jessica Lucas), who even opened a bar called ‘Sirens’ during this season.
According to Camren Bicondova, who plays the show’s version of a young Selina Kyle/Catwoman, joining Barbara and Tabitha could very easily be in Selina’s cards, given the arc she will be taking for the rest of the season.
“I’m not sure.” Bicondova explained to Heroic Hollywood during this year’s WonderCon. “We haven’t really dived into that yet as of right now. I think that eventually it will happen. Selina has been for the past however many months or years not consciously doing it, she has been kind of depending on Bruce in certain aspects and I think that for the rest of the season she isn’t looking for someone else to fill that spot, she is more realizing that she needs to fill that spot with herself and rely on herself. Wherever that mentality takes her by the end of the season is where we’ll find ourselves.”
Lucas, on the other hand, revealed to Heroic Hollywood that she has been much more optimistic about the Sirens reaching their full potential within the world of Gotham.
“Oh, I don’t want to spoil anything, but I think that is the plan. I love that they started it out in an unexpected way with Barbara and Tabitha because neither one of those characters are part of the [Gotham City] Sirens in the comic books. But I think there is room for growth, there is room for new members and I think it would be great to have some sort of girl gang going on next season. So I hope so, but I’m not sure yet!”
The Gotham City Sirens are set to hit the big screen in the near future, with a David Ayer-directed film starring Margot Robbie currently in development. But in the meantime, fans will just have to wait and see if the group comes to fruition on the small screen.
Gotham returns to FOX Monday, April 24 at 8 p.m. for the final eight episodes of the third season. No official season four pick-up has been announced yet for the series.
