The DC Cinematic Universe has taken a critical thrashing after their first major installment Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice failed to live up to fan expectations. A mix of issues with tone, plot, and characterization has left the studio in a less than desirable position, and they’re banking on films like Justice League, Wonder Woman, and The Batman to right the ship.

Part of that mix is Joe Manganiello, who will be playing Deathstroke in the upcoming Batman solo film, a film that has had its own issues with creative team shakeups before it even passed the starting line. It’s not all doom and gloom though according to Manganiello, who spoke to Robert Irvine about why fans should be hopeful for future films, specifically regarding the talented people are involved.
“I’m very excited to be working with the people I’m going to be working with. I’ve known Jon Berg (producer) prior to joining the DCEU. I met everyone, Zack Snyder included, when Man of Steel came out. I’ve known them all for years and I’m very excited to work with everyone. Ben Affleck makes great films and he’s a great Batman. Geoff Johns certainly is a really fun guy to hang around with and has a great grasp on this steering wheel that is the Titanic of the DCEU. Knowing what they have planned for the future, I think fans are really gonna love.
Wonder Woman is up first for Warner Bros., and it’s already picking up good worth of mouth from early screenings (including a 3.94 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings). Hopefully, this will set the stage for a much better second chapter for DC’s cinematic universe.
In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroesโBatman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flashโit may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ciarรกn Hinds, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg.
Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017, while The Batman lands sometime in 2018.
