If we’re being honest, there’s a lot of people saying lots of things about DC Entertainment’s Suicide Squad. The highly anticipated film officially hits theaters tomorrow, but plenty of fans will be seeing the super-villain romp later tonight. Of course, critics have already famously panned the film for several cinematic sins, but one prominent voice is now standing up for the film. Because, when it comes down to it, Kevin Smith is a huge fan of the movie.

On his official Facebook page, Smith wrote a lengthy post praising the film and its director, David Ayer. “I look up to @suicidesquadmovie maker #DavidAyer,” he wrote. ” When I heard he was shepherding a cinematic #suicidesquad, my already-high interests in a @dccomics movie shot over the top: what would a gritty guy like Dave do with the likes of #Deadshot & #HarleyQuinn? Well I think he made magic and did #dccomics proud.”
It’s not secret that Kevin is a fanboy for Ayer’s critically acclaimed work. It wasn’t that long ago when ComicBook.com’s own editor Lucas Siegel caught Kevin professing his love to Ayer on-camera at Suicide Squad‘s premiere. By the time Kevin told Ayer, “You’re a godd*mned legend,” he had solidified his fan status.
“The #Squad movie doesn’t look like any other comic book flick I’ve ever seen,” Kevin went on to say later in his review. “The periodic use of both #Batman and the #joker as background characters instead of the usual leads was thrilling and felt like our first real glimpse at an interconnected #dceu. The cast is top notch but Harley, as expected, steals the show. The #jokerandharley beats are simply wonderful for a longtime fan to watch and make you immediately wanna see the all-Harley movie they already announced. Throwaway moments made me so happy (like Katana and her Soultaker sword) but this flick as a whole had me smiling the whole time.”
But, really, Kevin’s most telling thought is found at the end of his message. How so? Well, these days, a movie’s success is determined by it ability to bring in repeat watchers to theaters. So, unsurprisingly,Kevin has already admitted he’ll be coming back for a another slice of the Suicide Squad pie. Because, for him and many others, the treat is tasty enough for a second serving.
