When DC Comics launched their short-lived DC You initiative last year, one of the biggest changes they made to their headlining characters was to have Superman substantially de-powered, buzz-cutted and wearing a t-shirt and jeans instead of his standard costume.

That version of Superman is no longer with us, but his legacy will live on, atop the desks of hte lucky fans who pick up Kotobukiya’s exclusive Clark Kent “Truth” statue at Comic Con International: San Diego next month.

Here’s the official description of the statue, courtesy the Facebook post where the exclusive was announced:

From the Action Comics storyline “Truth” Clark Kent has been stripped of his powers and exposed for who he really is amongst the citizens of Metropolis. No longer the “Man of Steel” but now a “Man of the People” Clark begins the long journey to reclaim what was once his and discover who he is in the process.

Sculpted by Naoya Muto, this limited edition Clark Kent ARTFX+ statue stands in 1:10 scale with an included magnetized base.

$49.99 plus tax. Available at Kotobukiya booth, #2601 during San Diego Comic-Con beginning July 20th. Limited, one-time production, while supplies last.

The statue is apparently based on art from former Action Comics penciller Aaron Kuder, although that’s not expressly stated. Kuder was the primary artist on the title during Greg Pak’s run, including the “Truth/Justice” and “Savage Dawn” storylines.

Following the events of those stories, Superman got his powers and costume back…just in time to be killed in Peter J. Tomasi’s “The Final Days of Superman.” Lucky for us all, Dan Jurgens had recently reintroduced the pre-Flashpoint Superman to the DC Universe, giving everyone a Man of Steel they could look up (in the sky) to.

Comic Con International: San Diego runs from July 21-24 this year, with a preview night on July 20.
