A mass shooting tragedy occurred today, just before 1pm, in the baggage claim of the Fort Lauderdale airport. At least five people are dead, eight wounded, and a lot of additional information about both the assailant and his victims are still coming to light (at the time of writing this).

One story that the geek community in particular will note about this Fort Lauderdale attack is that it could’ve very easily claimed a high-profile victim: The Flash‘s current Weather Wizard and former Spartacus star, Liam McIntyre. The actor was on site at the Fort Lauderdale airport when the shooting took place, and shared a pretty harrowing account of what could’ve been an even more tragic turn of fate:
