The talented actress is currently working on Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, but took some time to talk about her role in the classic Batman Returns. It’s been 20 years since the film hit theaters, and her rendition as Selina Kyle has more than held up.

“It was all Tim Burton,” Pfieffer told Variety. “He was able to bring this heart and darkness and humor to it.”

While Burton was the maestro, Pfieffer brought a seductiveness and fire to the role that is still remembered fondly, and she revealed she would love to reprise the Catwoman character. While she is up for portraying Selina Kyle once more, there are certain things she would not be up for.

You might assume she’s talking about the costume, but she’s actually talking about a memorable scene involving a small bird. Batman Returns featured some stellar visuals for the time, but this was before CGI truly took over. That means there was no “add it in during post” during the scene where she eats and swallows a live bird, and so the actress actually had to hold a live bird in her mouth.

“I can’t believe I did that,” Pfieffer said. “I could have gotten a disease.”

The good news is Pfieffer doesn’t have to worry about that on Ant-Man and the Wasp, a film in which her character is rather mysterious at the moment. She’s been preparing for her role with the typical comic research, and revealed it has been a bit daunting.

“I just started reading them, and I’m having a really hard time,” Pfieffer said. “There’s so much information on a page, and it’s not linear. When I’m skim reading them it’s difficult to know that this part comes after that and who is talking in what bubble.”

Fans will be able to see the fruits of Pfieffer’s efforts when Ant-Man and the Wasp hits the big screen on July 6th, 2018.
