While he hasn’t been as prevalent in the DC Universe as he once was, the reckless bounty hunter Lobo continues to be a fan-favorite, even after the botched handling of the character in the New 52.

It recently came to light that writer Rick Remender (Black Science, Uncanny X-Force) and artist Tony Moore (The Walking Dead, The Exterminators) at one point pitched a Lobo project to DC titled Reality Bites! Remender posted a mock cover with the caption “Declined LOBO pitch with @tonymoore that still haunts me.”

While many projects do get the green light, there are ten times that amount that never see the light of day. Remender explained the premise of the Reality Bites! project to ComicBook.com.
“We pitched it in 2003. It’s was an examination on the emerging reality TV culture, how it will rot and destroy our culture, build a generation obsessed with fame for nothing, and how Lobo will fix it all… in the most Lobo way possible. Ah, what could have been.”
You rarely if ever hear the words “Lobo” and “fixing” in the same sentence, and it would have been entertaining to see the bull in a china shop attempting to solve a problem that he couldn’t punch. Knowing Lobo though, he would probably find a way.
Remender might not be working with the character, but he’s certainly kept busy with a bevy of comic titles. Those include his newest series Seven To Eternity #1 from Image Comics, as well as his continuing series Deadly Class (#22) and Black Science (#24). Image also just released Tokyo GhostVol 2 and Thought Bubble Anthology Collection – 10 Years of Comics in trade.
As for Moore, in addition to books like Fear Agent, The Exterminators, and The Walking Dead, he also keeps busy with work on Marvel’s Deadpool series and covers for a variety of books, including a variant for Remender’s Seven To Eternity.
