The two-minute video showcases the digital effects that were created for Supergirl and Martian Manhunter’s encounters with the dangerous creature. It begins by showing climate-change scientist Dr. Rudy Jones (William Mapother) transform into the parasitic alien. We then see how they visualized Parasite absorbing the Last Son of Mars and the Girl of Steel’s energy and super-abilities, and how they displayed the drainage of her energy and powers by creating a sunken face for Melissa Benoist.

At the end of the episode, Supergirl was able to defeat Parasite by having it absorb Plutonium-239 โ€” which caused it to explode. Now you can see how they blended digital and practical effects for that explosive moment.

Lena’s (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack’s conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she’s inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.

Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish.
