At the beginning of December, The CW confirmed to ComicBook.com that famed Superman villain Mr. Mxyzptlk will have a two-episode debut in the second-half of Supergirl‘s second season. No actor had been cast to play the troublemaking being from the fifth dimension at that time; however, fast-forward to today and we now know — thanks to Hollywood North (a.k.a. YVRshoots) — who will be vexing the Girl of Steel and what he’ll look like in-costume.

Peter Gadiot — who starred as Cyrus in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland — is portraying Mr. Mxyzptlk! On Thursday, the 31-year-old English actor was spotted on the downtown Vancover set of Supergirl filming scenes with Melissa Benoist. He was mundanely dressed in a (purple?) suit with a purple t-shirt underneath.

Created in 1944 by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Ira Yarborough, Mr. Mxyzptlk features heavily in the recently-reprinted World’s Funnest collection, in which he faces off with his fellow god-like, childlike imp, Bat-Mite. Supergirl will not be the character’s live-action debut; he previously appeared in The Adventures of Superboy, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and Smallville.
