A reward of $50,000 is being offered to assist in the finding of a suspect who was responsible for shooting and killing a 20-year-old Pokemon Go player just under a year after the individual was murdered in San Francisco.

The victim, a college student named Calvin Riley, was playing Pokemon Go with a group of friends last year in August when he was attacked by an unknown person. While visiting a PokeStop in San Francisco, Riley and his group of friends were approached by a man who shot the gamer, a wound that resulted in Riley's death shortly after paramedics arrived.

There was no known motive for the attack, nor are there any suspects in the case. Investigations are still underway through the U.S. Parks Police that's heading up the search for the suspect, and the city is now planning to enlist the help of others in order to locate the suspect. A sketch of the male suspect was initially released along with a description of a Toyota Avalon that might've been used by the suspect during his escape.

While the news of the reward has already been released, Rep. Jackie Speier from the city of San Mateo where Riley lived plans to formally announce the reward on Monday alongside the victim's parents. The money for the reward is being funded by the city of San Francisco, and any individuals who might have information on the suspect are encouraged to contact the U.S. Park Police's tipline at (415) 561-5150 or police communications at (415) 561-5508.

Since Pokemon Go's release, several of the game's players have been victims of crimes ranging from thefts to shootings. Given the nature of where PokeStops appeared, venturing into sometimes less-trafficked areas was common, all done while players were focusing on their game. PokeStops have been removed in the past due to safety concerns at the request of officials and individuals to cut back on problematic areas.
