Alien Game Set Between First & Second Movie Coming to Xbox Very Soon

An Alien game set between the very first two movies in the whole franchise is making its way to Xbox later this month. There are few franchises that have had as much of an impact on pop culture as Alien. The terrifying sci-fi film redefined what aliens could actually be. For years, they were little grey or green men with big eyes, but Ridley Scott’s film envisioned them as giant, lanky creatures with twisty tails and acidic blood. It’s one of the most unnerving designs for a creature in the horror genre and has remained incredibly creepy decades later. It also makes them one heck of a threat for gamers as well.

As fans already know thanks to the extremely scary Alien: Isolation, there’s a lot of room for exploration in the Alien universe through the gaming medium. There have been many different attempts at trying to properly immerse players in that world with some approaching it as a straight up horror game like Isolation while others lean more toward James Cameron’s action-oriented style with games like Alien: Colonial Marine and even Alien vs. Predator. With all of that said, there’s a new contender that tries to find a nice balance between the two.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Is Coming to Xbox

Last year saw the release of Alien: Rogue Incursion, a new first-person VR game that let players cower in terror from Xenomorphs or gun them down with the iconic assault rifle. It was really well-received by VR players, but that’s a fairly niche audience. Thankfully, Survios has managed to build the game for traditional screens as well and players will be able to play it with a normal controller or keyboard and mouse very soon. Alien: Rogue Incursion is making its way to PS5 and now Xbox Series X|S later this month, allowing console players the opportunity to experience a new story in the Alien universe.

Alien: Rogue Incursion is set between Alien and Aliens, but it is a wholly original story so don’t feel obligated to watch those movies in order to understand this game (but you should watch them anyways because they’re incredible). You play as Colonial Marine Zula Hendricks, a character that has existed in the Alien universe via comic books and novels for nearly a decade now, who is investigating a rogue distress call on a planet known as Purdan. Of course, this leads to all kinds of horrific encounters with the Xenomorphs.

Alien: Rogue Incursion comes to Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on September 30th for $29.99. The cinematic shooter is part one in a two-part story, but details are scarce on when players can expect Alien: Rogue Incursion Part 2. It’s also unclear if the sequel will be developed with consoles in mind or if it will come to VR headsets first, like this entry. Nevertheless, it’s great to see a developer making a VR game more accessible to fans.
