Battlefield 6‘s download size has been revealed ahead of pre-loading, and much to the joy of gamers everywhere, it’s scalable. Over the last decade, we’ve seen the file sizes for video games balloon like no other. As graphical fidelity increases, the overall scope and scale expands, and games become more demanding, it requires the actual size of the game to become bigger. This has even hurt physical games as not all the data can be put on the disc itself, forcing people to still download sizable parts of the game from the internet. It’s a complicated issue that has led to some games being hundreds of GBs, which can be all-consuming for a console’s storage drive.

Battlefield 6 itself is going to be a massive game in terms of its scope. The franchise is making its grand return with a grounded, modern-day military mode, custom fan-made content via the game’s Portal mode, and Battlefield 6 is even bringing back its campaign mode. The single-player mode was absent from Battlefield 2042, but EA heard pleas to bring it back. Add on to the fact that the game has big maps, destruction, and so much more, one would imagine the game is pretty big. Thankfully, its file size is fairly manageable.
Battlefield 6 Size Revealed

As reported by BattlefieldIntel and Drozdek on Twitter, Battlefield 6‘s entire download size on PC is just under 76 GBs. The screenshot with this information is from the EA App, so the file size may slightly vary from platform to platform, but you can expect it to be in this ballpark. Additionally, it looks like you’ll be able to select which parts of the game you want to download. If you have no interest in Battlefield 6‘s campaign, it appears that you will be able to avoid installing it or remove it once you’ve finished it.
The base game requires 48.88 GBs and the Battlefield 6 multiplayer requires an additional 5GB + an HD pack that is apparently just 423 MBs. All in all, if you’re just in it for the multiplayer, it may only take up about 55 GBs. There’s also the possibility of a day one patch that could make the size jump up a bit more, but all in all, it seems pretty reasonable for a massive new game like this. If you’re looking to get the game ready for launch, you can pre-load Battlefield 6 starting on October 3rd.
ComicBook spoke to Christian Buhl, the technical director on the game, and he noted that the team worked hard to make Battlefield 6 as optimized as possible for a wide array of platforms. A lot of work has gone into making the game accessible and it wouldn’t be surprising if making the file size reasonable was a big part of that.
