An all-new trailer for THQ Nordic’s Black Mirror just dropped, giving players a closer look at the story and characters. Players take on the role of David Gordon, who must uncover his family’s morbid past after returning to his ancestral home. With an obvious connection to the lore of Samuel Gordon from the original 2003 release and Darren Michaels from its sequel, Black Mirror takes the same gothic horror themes and freshens them up for a generation that anticipates jump scares around every corner. Check out the trailer below:

The game was first announced back in August and debuted last week on Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
Set in 1926, Black Mirror Castle in Scotland opens its doors for members of the Gordon family and very rarely lets them out. According to the official website, David has been “tormented by nightmares and waking dreams for all his life,” due to the curse in his lineage. “[H]e fears that it might be his destiny to follow in his father’s footsteps, down a path that leads to madness and death… Is there really a curse that has been haunting his family for generations as his father believed? Or are the mysteries hidden inside the cold walls of Black Mirror house of a far more wordly nature?”
A lot of the gameplay that we see in this trailer has to do with investigating and finding clues. The player can seemingly look into the past and see memories as they’re uncovered during the game. While players may be used to the franchise’s tricks and clever mysteries, it looks like Black Mirror is still aiming high with anticipated narrative and gameplay-related surprises. Anyone unacquainted with the franchise can pick up the older games, as well as the 2017 ‘reimagining’ of the Gordon saga, today.
