With an Xbox One trailer revealed today during Microsoft's E3 conference, Deep Rock Galactic looks like a strange, blocky ride that seems like it'd be a blast to play with friends.

Developed by Ghost Ship Games and published by Coffee Stain Studios, "Danger," "Darkness," and "Dwarves" are three words that the site uses initially to describe the game. Since Deep Rock Galactic puts a heavy focus on mining resources and blasting away critters that try and stop you, and with Coffee Stain Studios being the company that helped bring Goat Simulator to life, you can likely add "Guns," "Gold," and perhaps "Goats" to that description as well.

The game features a team of four space-faring dwarves with impeccable beards who are members of the mining organization that takes the same name as the game. They've done a pretty solid job of mining resources from all sorts of different planets, but of course, the richest resources lie in those regions of space where others are afraid to go. But not the players, of course, because it's your job to take on these threats and show what a hard-working, talented miner you are.

With the game being procedurally generated, you can bet that there will probably be a terrific variety of areas to explore and mine. Plenty of emphases seems to be put on playing with buddies as well, as the trailer shows up to four class-based characters navigating the caves at one time with a description on the site saying "Dig together or dig your own grave."

Some sharp corners and simplistic shapes come together to create a style of graphics that doesn't look exactly like that of Minecraft's, but when you see the graphics combined with an emphasis on mining resources, it's hard not to draw a comparison. But the FPS element is what really stands out here with the dwarves unloading an arsenal of what looks like shotguns, miniguns, and even flamethrowers on their enemies.

For now, the game has been revealed as an Xbox One launch exclusive, but there's also a listing for a PC version of the game on Steam. There's no solid release date at this time other than 2018, and more news about gameplay and additional console releases will likely come soon.
