Jump Festa brought on a surprising amount of news over the course of this past weekend for several video game titles based on fan favorite franchises. Square Enix's popular Final Fantasy saga was part of this list, with DISSIDIA Final Fantasy NT highlighting most of the company's weekend news entries.

The upcoming title is another crossover game that pits heroes and villains from throughout the franchise against each other in a battle to save, or destroy the universe around them. Along with new gameplay trailers, the game's open beta launch date has been announced, as well as more details on specific gameplay modes that are new and unique to the game.

The open beta, which is currently only slated for Japan, will take place over the course of three different phases. These will take place from December 23rd to December 24th, from December 30th to December 31st, and from January 6th to January 7th respectively.

A new battle mode was also announced, called Core Battle Mode, which pits two teams of two players each against one another as they try to destroy the other team's core. It's a pretty simple idea, but it's also great for friends who enjoy playing online, and also lends credit to the idea of a competitive community sprouting up around the title.

A new cutscene was also released, showing off one of the pivotal moments from the game's story mode.

Along with all of this, a new battle featuring the Ifrit summon was uploaded for fans to check out, demonstrating how summons will work in the game.

All of this information was detailed over the course of a live stream featuring Director Takeo Kujiraoka and Producer Ichiro Hazama. A team of six players was also around to demonstrate the Core battle mode, and to show off some of the more competitive gameplay.

DISSIDIA Final Fantasy NT will release on January 30th, 2018, exclusively on the Playstation 4.
