Far Cry 7 Report Raises Big Concerns About the Game

A new report tied to Far Cry 7 has raised some concerns with the newest installment in the franchise. Although Ubisoft hasn’t yet announced the next game in the Far Cry series, it’s a forgone conclusion that it will eventually be unveiled and released since this is one of the biggest properties that the publisher owns. Unfortunately, for those who have continued to hope that we might see Far Cry 7 shown off in an official capacity soon, it sounds like this won’t be happening as there have been big problems with its development.

Coming by way of video game insider Tom Henderson, it was said that Ubisoft’s work on Far Cry 7 has been a “complete mess” as of late. Henderson didn’t provide information on what it is that’s giving Ubisoft problems with this new Far Cry game, but as a result, he said the title still won’t release for a couple more years. Despite this, Henderson added that Far Cry 7 seems to have a good foundation, which could lead to the final product being quite promising.

Far Cry 7 had good ideas and stuff, [but] that game is a complete mess from what I’ve heard,” Henderson said. “So that’s a couple of years away.”

Far Cry 7 Isn’t the Only Far Cry Game in the Works

While Far Cry 7 is undoubtedly the biggest game tied to the franchise that’s in development, it’s not the only one. Henderson also mentioned that a multiplayer-centric, extraction-style shooter in the Far Cry universe is also being made at Ubisoft. Word of this game has been circling for multiple years now, but Henderson said that the project was reworked in 2025. In the wake of this shift, it means that this game also won’t be unveiled by Ubisoft for a bit longer.

For Far Cry fans, all of this news indicates that Ubisoft is very unlikely to share anything major tied to the franchise in the near future. If we’re lucky, perhaps one of these new Far Cry games will end up releasing in 2027. In all likelihood, though, Far Cry 7 sounds more feasible to arrive in 2028, which would represent a staggering seven-year gap between mainline entries in the series.
