Features We Can Expect From The Next Xbox One Update
With the next massive Xbox One update quickly approaching, Xbox gamers are hungry for more details [...]
Digital Gifting
If you've been waiting for the chance to send your Xbox friends a virtual gift through some sort of gifting system on the Xbox One, you might be in luck when the next big Xbox One update rolls out.
A gifting function has been suggested and discussed several times in the past, and recently, it was confirmed that the gifting option was on the way. There wasn't a great amount of detail provided except for the confirmation that the feature wasn't far away at all.
Steam already has a similar feature for that gaming platform, and having the same on Xbox would streamline the gifting process to allow for quick purchases, so it makes sense that it'd be included with the next update.
prevnextRevamped Avatars
While creating an avatar to represent your personality and gaming interests on the Xbox One may be one of the first things that players do when they become proud owners of the console, it's not always something that gets revisited. Accessories and other features might get swapped out occasionally, but for the most part, it's a one-time deal.
That'll all hopefully be changed when the avatar system receives a big overhaul that was announced earlier in the year during Xbox's big E3 presentations. Diversity is the driving factor coming with the new avatar system, and the avatars are shaping up to look better than ever as you can see in the trailer above.
prevnextBackward Compatibility For Original Xbox
The Xbox One is no stranger to incorporating older gaming classics through backward compatibility. In fact, they just recently crossed a big milestone with the console now included over 400 games in the backward compatibility system. Even more are expect to be added later on with original Xbox games being added to the catalog as well.
As far as how many original Xbox titles will be available, firm numbers aren't yet known, but the supposed library of games has been called "extensive." However, if you're an achievement hunter, you might have one less thing to look forward to with the new Xbox update since these games won't come with achievements.
prevnextAn Updated UI Design
Though the features such as digital gifting and backwards compatibility are the more anticipated additions that players would hope to see in the next Xbox One update, the overall experience of using and navigating to these features depends on the how stylish and useful the user interface is.
In a trailer that was released earlier in the year previewing the Fall Creators Update that's coming to Windows 10 later in the year, the Fluid Design System is a fresh, new look at the UI that'll also make changes to the Xbox One. As seen in the trailer above, while not all of deals with the Xbox, you can see a brief look of the new tile-styled menu being teased as the Xbox menu is pulled up.
prevnextMore USB Support
While there are currently plenty of USB devices that'll work without much issue when paired with the Xbox One, the future update will hopefully improve the options that players have when using USB devices on the console.
Currently, many players are stuck with purchasing accessories that are intended to work with Microsoft's console, but it's already been mentioned in the past that there are plans to improve the USB-pairing potential for the Xbox One. This feature may still be a ways off, but with how large the next Xbox update is shaping up to be, players will hopefully be able to soon have many more options for keyboards, webcams, and other devices.
