To receive the card, all you have to do is log into the game on Saturday. It sounds like there should be more to the deal, or some kind of catch, but there’s nothing more that’s needed than simply hopping the game like you were possibly planning on doing anyway.
This limited-time event seems to have come out of nowhere from Blizzard as it is the first ever Free Card Day that the game has offered. While there’s not much to go off of as to why they chose now of all times to begin the event, it’s still a welcome gesture to loyal players who need an extra addition to their growing deck.
The free reward in question that’s being distributed is the Fight Promoter card. This 6-cost, 4/4 card comes with a special Battlecry that allows you to draw two cards if you control a minion that has 6 or more health. While it may take some time to figure out how to work it into your decks, the Fight Promoter card can trigger the Battlecry off of itself with the right combinations, so it’s at least got that going for it.
If you’re not interested in utilizing the free Epic card in your decks, it’s still worth picking up for the Dust component if nothing else. You can look at it as a free card from Blizzard or a free 100 Dust for you to craft something else with, but either way, free is free.
Since it’s not the most riveting free reward to be given out, there’s a possibility that the Epic card giveaway could be a way for Blizzard to test the waters if they have bigger upcoming events planned for the game. Being able to see how many people log on when they know there’s a special incentive to could help them determine how to roll out later events. Regardless of what they’re underlying plan is, a free card is always welcome.
