Free Ubisoft Game Just Stealth Released on PS Plus

A Ubisoft game has just been stealth-released onto PlayStation Plus, making it free for millions of PS4 and PS5 users. It’s not been made free with all tiers of the Sony subscription service, though. Those at the PS Plus Essential subscription will need to upgrade to either PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium to access the free Ubisoft game. Meanwhile, how long the PS4 and PS5 game will be free via the subscription service, we do not know.

Ahead of October’s free PS Plus games, which go live next week, those with a PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium subscription can now download Monopoly 2024 for free. This saves PlayStation Plus subscribers from a $30 purchase of the 2024 game. In addition to the middle and most expensive tiers of the Sony subscription service, it is now also included in the Ubisoft+ Classics catalog. Meanwhile, those on PS5 Pro will be disappointed to know the Ubisoft game does not have any PS5 Pro enhancements, a growing trend for the luxury Sony console. To be fair, though, it is not immediately obvious how the game could appreciably benefit from the added power of the console, as it’s not a very technically demanding game, nor is a crisp frame rate and resolution very relevant.

About the Game

Monopoly 2024 is the latest installment in the series that takes the famous board and turns it into a digital experience. That said, unless you are a hardcore Monopoly fan, it may be worth checking something else out via PS Plus. To this end, it only has a 3/5 rating on the PlayStation Store and only a 35% approval rating on Steam. Issues raised by all of these reviews include stability problems, crashes, unfair AI advantages, and a shallow level of content. For what it is worth, though, when the game works, and what is there, PlayStation users and more seem to enjoy it.

Amidst concerns that Sony is going to raise the price of PS Plus, subscribers will hope future additions between now and the end of the year will be better than this one. That said, one of the best PlayStation games of all time was just recently added to the subscription service, if PS4 and PS5 users are looking for something new to play.
