Friday the 13th: The Game may not have been the perfect movie-to-game experience for everyone, but it does more than enough service for the franchise, either giving players the chance to control Jason Voorhees in the midst of his psychotic rage, or the poor counselors trying to avoid it. And now, it looks like it’s going to be getting more tributes to the movie series.

Gun Media’s Wes Keltner has hinted that more content could be added to the game in the form of Easter eggs, hinting at the many films that have come out over the past few decades (thankfully, not the 2009 release). He recently posted on Twitter that the team is “working on new (E)aster eggs for the game,” but didn’t provide any additional details as of yet. However, when a fan asked about in-game puzzles or mysteries, Keltner simply posted a “hush” gif to quite them down.
These Easter eggs will be quite different, Keltner noted while speaking to EGMNOW. These include playable mecahnics and fun background touches.
Here’s a good instance of how Easter eggs would work. Players would be able to wear a sweater once owned by Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother, which would allow you to briefly block Jason’s advances. In addition, you’d also have access to a beacon that can be used to call Tommy Jarvis, who can assist to defeating Jason.
We’re not sure if this will include the team’s recent attempts to make Gloria Charles’ character Fox from Friday the 13th playable in the game, but there’s a very good possibility. We’ll let you know what the team has in mind once these are made official, but, for now, your guess is as good as ours.
Hopefully, we’ll see nods from later films in the series as well, including cult favorites like Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan and, of course, the space horror slasher Jason X, which would make us feel right at home with a futuristic skin. We’ll see what’s added in the weeks ahead, but we have full faith in the team.
Friday the 13th: The Game is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
