CD Projekt are celebrating their Gwent soft launch with a new cinematic trailer, which is a lot more action-packed than you might expect. Clearly, CD Projekt isn’t just pitching Gwent to card game fanatics โ they’re hoping a good portion of their Witcher fans come along as well. Check out the trailer at the top of this post.
Here’s what CD Projekt had to say about the Gwent public beta:
“GWENT is free to play, now! From the home of The Witcher, developer CD PROJEKT RED, comes a different type of collectible card game. Based on skill rather than luck, GWENT gives you command of highly customizable armies, and encourages use of strategy and deception to defeat opponents.
Sling powerful unit & spell cards, and summon heroes with game-changing abilities. On GWENT’s battlefields, clever tricks used to deceive other players are always a viable tactic. Played in a best of three format, GWENT is fast, fun and fresh โ and now you can play it with friends.”
But wait, how exactly do you play Gwent? Don’t worry, the gameplay trailer below provides a pretty solid overview. It looks like Gwent has a chance of going head-to-head with the virtual card game big boys โ watch your back, Hearthstone!
The public beta for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. A final release date for the game has yet to be announced.
