Injustice 2 developer NetherRealm has issued a brief response to a situation where the game’s latest update has been erasing players’ hard-earned gear.

Reports of the damaging update began emerging late at night on Tuesday where PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users across a variety of mediums including Twitter, Reddit, and forums began posting evidence that their gear had been wiped. Quickly trying to figure out what the cause of the lost gear was, players narrowed in on the latest update as the source of the problem.

After hearing players’ concerns and tweeting earlier in the day that they were looking into the cause of the issue, NetherRealm issued an official announcement Wednesday evening that confirmed gear was “missing.”

The Statement

“We’re aware that some players who downloaded the most recent Injustice 2 patch are missing Gear they have earned,” the announcement from NetherRealm reads. “For those affected by this issue – please try and reboot the game after installing the patch. This should recover any Gear earned before 9/25.”

However, the developer added that their fix might not work for everyone. As some players have reported not losing any gear and other have reported their loot returning, it seems that not everyone is finding the same levels of success.

“If you earned gear after 9/25 that was not restored, the game team is still investigating this issue,” the update continued. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused and thank you for your patience!”
