Earlier this year at Gamescom, Universal, working alongside the team at Frontier Developments (Rollercoaster Tycoon), revealed that it was working on a game to coincide with the release of its sequel Jurassic World 2, the dino-sim Jurassic World: Evolution, which promised to let fans build the theme park of their dreams (or nightmares). This past weekend, at the Frontier Expo 17 event, fans got a closer look at some of the dinos that will be featured in the game, so that they could get an idea of what they’ll be working with.

The gameplay footage, captured by the team at TheSixthAxis, has a bit of a misleading title, as it doesn’t actually feature any of the gameplay, such as putting a park together or watching dinos run loose. It does, however, feature some in-game footage that showcases just how impressive these dinos look in the game, from the smallest of velociraptors to the mighty T-Rex, taking a break from hunting other creatures to show off his superiority within the park.

Considering that Frontier is working closely with Universal on the project, they’ve probably got access to the many assets that are featured within the sequel, including a number of dinosaur models, locations, and pretty much the entirety of the park itself. It also appears to be mixing in some great weather conditions, such as rainstorms, that replicate the more tense events from films over the years, in case you feel like watching a T-Rex rampage through a rainstorm.

We’ve likely only seen the beginning of what Jurassic World: Evolution has to offer, as Frontier will more than likely update us over the next few months โ€“ especially as we get a closer look at Jurassic World 2 as well, with Universal likely to release its first trailer sometime later this year. So, yeah, dino expectations are building up to an all-time high with this franchise.

We’ll let you know what further details we get about the game in the months ahead, but with Frontier at the helm, you’ll have a swell time building your own park, we estimate. Check out the first gameplay footage above!

Jurassic World: Evolution will release in summer 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
