With League of Legends' newest jungler, Kayn, having two final forms to choose from, it's almost as if it's two different champions to balance. Each one has distinct advantages over the other that should allow players to adapt to how the game is playing out and make the necessary decisions, but for now, it looks like Kayn's Darkin form is the much-preferred option, something that'll look to be changed with the Assassin form being buffed in the next patch.

When opting for Kayn's Darkin path, you've certainly got some attractive factors waiting for you. He heals off of the damage applied from his spells, he gets percent-health damage on his Reaping Slash, receives a knock-up on his Blade's Reach and deals more damage and heals himself with his ultimate, Umbral Trespass. His Assassin form isn't a bad choice, but compared to the other option, it's just not picked hardly as much. Instead of toning down the Darkin form, Riot is looking to bring the lesser-picked transformation up to speed with the current favorite.

"Quick update: We got some more in depth analysis back on Kayn sooner than predicted which is showing a bigger performance difference between Assassin and Darkin than we'd like," Meddler added to his Gameplay Thoughts post through an announcement in the comments section. "We'll be buffing Assassin a bit after all in 7.15 as a result (higher AD ratio on the R)."

Initially in the post, Meddler mentioned that they hadn't seen enough of a difference in terms of data between the two to warrant any changes, something that's now been changed. When asked about whether it felt more appropriate to buff the Assassin form or nerf the Darkin one, Meddler said that more of those changes might come later, but Assassin definitely needed some love right now.

"Darkin might prove to be a bit strong eventually, that's speculated longer term performance rather than a current issue," he added. Looks like Assassin could do with some help though regardless of whether we need to take some off Darkin or not at some point."

While the current buffs being looked at were only referenced to his ultimate, there could very well be additional changes applied to the champ given his very short time on the Rift so far.
