A series of buffs that are currently being tested on the League of Legends PBE look to give a slight buff to each junglers’ early game.

No matter which champion you prefer to take into the jungle each game, the work-in-progress buffs to Hunter’s Machete and Hunter’s Talisman will help in the beginning by providing a bit more DPS. Both of the items currently have entirely new effects attached to them that are listed below as first reported by Surrender@20:

Hunter’s Machete

  • Unique Passive – Nail
    • bonus damage increased from 25 to 30
    • [New Effect] now grants 20% bonus Attack Speed for 2 seconds

Hunter’s Talisman

  • [New Effect] Unique Passive – Tooth now burns monsters for 10 + 30% bonus health (max 50) magic damage.

For those that often find themselves in the jungle, you’ll notice that this buff to the items should decrease the time spent on your first clear by a noticeable amount. The extra burn damage from Talisman will work well for AP junglers or those who have AOE spells while attack speed-based champions will benefit from the Machete changes that lay down more attacks on monsters which then turns into more on-hit damage and healing.

These changes to the early-game jungle items also exist alongside global buffs to champions’ stats that are currently being tested, a compensation for the removal of the current runes. While the runes benefit all roles early on, the jungle is the role that comes to mind when considering how significant the proper runes are when it comes to having enough attack speed to clear your jungle in a timely manner. Those raw stats granted from today’s runes will soon be a thing of the past, but buffs to jungle items and champions will hopefully balance out the differences.

The jungle often sees several changes during the preseason anyway, so the patches in the coming months will likely be nothing new in that regard. However, the Runes Reforged system is set to roll out on Nov. 8, so there will likely be plenty of other changes made to the jungle and the champions that thrive in it before now and then.
