Riot Games released a new update onto the PBE, and with it arrived multiple quality of life changes regarding parties, additional balance changes and bug fixes regarding the new Runes system, and several Champion balance changes, many of which are directed towards Marksmen. As a reminder, PBE content is always tentative, and as such features and numbers that go live on the main servers may differ from what is listed below.

Party Changes

While many have come to appreciate the new League of Legends client, there are still a few features that have yet to be fully implemented that could sway those still on the fence about its benefits. One such feature is the ability to change your party’s game mode. While party leaders are currently able to do this, switching the party over from an ARAM to a normal game, for example, would force the party leader into a new lobby, and new invites would be sent out to those that were in the leader’s first party. Now available for testing on the PBE, party leaders can now switch games modes instantaneously, without any griping from their teammates.

Another quality of life feature along the same thought process is the ability for all members of a party to press the “Play Again” button on the end of game screen. Up until now only party leaders were able to do this. With this latest change, any party member that has not selected the “Play Again” button will appear as “not ready”. Pressing the button will change the status to “ready” and the party leader can queue the team up for matchmaking.

Last but not least, going forward any draft game mode will remember each party member’s position preference, so players won’t have to reselect their preferred roles after each match. As this only works for game modes that have position select, other game modes such as ARAMs and normal blind pick will function as they always have.

Runes Reforged Testing & Bug Fixes

Runes

Riot employee Wrekz took to Twitter to reveal the latest changes and bug fixes for League’s brand new Rune system. While the changes are fairly self-explanatory, the Tweets themselves do not explain what each rune does. Thankfully, Riot Games recently released a tool that allows players to read up on the new runes and ‘theorycraft’ new builds.

  • “Last hitting – Champions gain +5 damage on each basic attack against a lane minion”
  • “Sudden Impact Now activates on exiting stealth or camouflage”
  • “Ravenous Hunter Fixed a bug that was causing this to grant 40% spellvamp instead of 15% at max stacks”
  • “Lethal Tempo Fixed a bug causing this to always break the AS cap instead of only while Lethal Tempo’s bonus was active.”
  • “Celestial Body Damage penalty increased to 8% Damage penalty now applies to monsters as well as champions “
  • “Overheal – Healing from others = 100-300% over game time, no more range/melee split there”
  • ย Loading screen frames have also been adjusted to accommodate for the new Runes system.

Champion Balance Changes

The latest batch of Champion balance changes is very nearly a full list of Champion buffs, save for the Janna nerfs that were hotfixed in to the live servers on 9/27. Also of note is the fact that many of these buffs are for Marksmen. Despite the buffs being minor for the most part, the Marksmen buffs have a direct correlation with the new runes system. The new runes Riot is bringing in add base damage to champions rather than bonus attack damage, which will adversely affect Marksmen abilities that have bonus scalings, as they would be doing less damage. As such, the Marksmen abilities below – all of which have some bonus attack damage scaling – are being buffed to help keep their power levels in line.
