It seems as if the League of Legends world has been revolving around Thresh as of late. He’s got his own game mode dedicated to himself in Dark Star: Singularity where there’s a Dark Star Thresh announcer and new Thresh themed music playing.
Thresh has been the star of the show and it doesn’t look like that it’s going to let up anytime soon.
According to Meddler, League of Legends Lead Gameplay Designer, the midseason changes have been great for Thresh mains. “Mid season’s been kind to the chain warden,” said Meddler. They didn’t target the support during the patch individually, so how did he get better? “Belief is that that’s the impact of the revised Ancient Coin in part, which gives him needed mana, reduces chances he costs his ally in lane CS with Targon’s and gives him more E procs to harass with than Targon’s does,” said Meddler. He would then go on to compare the old coin to the new coin and said, “Old coin offered most of those benefits too, but suspicion here is that new Coin’s a better choice on him overall than the old.”
Thresh is in a different situation according to Meddler as he’s not necessarily overpowered and he’s not too weak. He’s right in the middle which is a rarity within the world of League of Legends. “Right now we’re at the ‘we need to watch Thresh, and understand exactly what’s affecting him’ stage, not ‘time to nerf’. Coin’s a solid theory for some of the increase, possible there’s other stuff going on too though (other itemization changes, people getting much better at using his kit after playing the new game mode, etc)”
What do you think of the Chain Warden? Is Thresh too overpowered or underpowered? Perhaps you think he’s just right and should just be left alone! No matter what side you’re on, let us know over on our Facebook page!
