A recent string of coding has been discovered within the coming update of Battle.net and with those codes comes a mention of an “Offline Mode”. The ability to appear offline and have more of a social setting has been something that Blizzard community members have been asking for since forever. Also seen in the uncovered coding were chat groups, profile avatars, icons, and more. Many of the features are very similar to the popular team chat client Discord. Now, we’ve got solid images and the dataminers uncover what fans can look forward to!
Personal and Group Avatars
Players love being able to show off their favourite franchises, and what better way to do that than with a personalised avatar? Groups and individualsย alike can have their own chosen avatars representing popular games from Blizzard themselves. Whether you’re a Junkratย main from Overwatch, or like to get down on some Heroes of the Storm; there’s a wide selection so far to choose from in the upcoming social upgrade. Check out a few of the uncovered images below:ย
Individual gamers can set their own avatar to represent them, with many presets already in place resembling characters from popular Blizzard titles as well asย Destiny 2. Groups can also set the appropriate image to represent them, perfect for guilds to get together as well as those aiming to take their game to the pro level. Many of the above Group Avatar images are icons seen in the actual games themselves, which will make them even better when looking to personalise that social experience.
Groups and Channels
Just like online clients such as Discord and TeamSpeak, there will also be individual groups and channels for players to utilise while in-game. Each can be set for a specific game, even more specified through guilds, competitive versus. quick play, and more. Much like other clients, a group of adminsย will be able to regulate what channels have access and how many there are available for all members. Take a look at some of the datemined images below to see what the new social hub will look like:ย
There will be general chat, specific group chat, voice abilities, and more in the upcoming update. Though Blizzard hasn’t specifically announced their new social hub, the images are there, the coding is there, the timing is there.ย With the mobile application just released, though bare at launch, it would not be surprising at all to see this feature go live in tandum withย the mobile app.
