As we previously reported, Ashly Burch will no longer be playing Chloe due to a SAG-AFTRA strike, which left the prolific voice actress “pretty heartbroken.” Burch has a substantial online following due to her voice acting, Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin’? web series, and just generally being a cool, funny person, so some fans may be tempted to turn their back on Life is Strange: Before the Storm because she’s been replaced.
Well, it seems Life is Strange developer Deck Nine is trying to head off those feelings with their latest behind-the-scenes video, which you can check out above. First off, Ashly Burch is all over the video, and we’re assured multiple times she still worked on the game as a writing consultant. So, take a chill pill HAWP fans. We’re also introduced to the new voice of Chloe, Rhianna DeVries, who seems to have devoted to proper care and effort to the role. DeVries spoke a bit about Chloe’s appealโฆ
“There’s something so relatable about Chloe, and I think that’s why so many people love her. I took Chloe very personally. I tried to play her as raw and close to heart as possible. I think, just the rawness of her hurt and pain is what makes her such a dynamic and likable character.”
The first episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, entitled Awake, arrives on the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on August 31.
