Metacritic has revealed the 10 worst games of 2022. The video game industry is a very interesting one when it comes to how many games are released and how they’re released in the modern age. Although there’s always been a lot of games being released in any given year, it seems like there’s infinite games nowadays. Anyone can publish a game on digital retailers like Steam, making it pretty much impossible to play everything. With that said, not all of them are going to be great. In fact, statistically, a lot of them are going to be pretty bad.ย
In the year of 2022, we had a lot of fantastic games, big and small. God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, Sifu, Stray, and many others all proved to be absolute bangers. But not every game was as good as those, there were some games with truly terrible launches. Some of these got fixed over time, but it didn’t stop them from getting slammed at release. Some of these didn’t get improved much, tarnishing them forever.ย

Of course, it’s worth noting that games are incredibly hard to make. While it is an interesting thing to study the games that simply just didn’t hit their marks, it’s a miracle that any game turns out well. The team behind God of War Ragnarokย was concerned with its quality just a few months before it had released, which shows just how quickly things can change and even extremely talented teams struggle. Even some of these games managed to get a bit better after receiving some backlash and having some additional time to work on the problems. Some games don’t really have the luxury of doing that or never fully recover, but at least some can make something better have receiving the criticism.
