Despite Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain being nearly two years old and director Hideo Kojima leaving Konami in a flurry of controversy, we, rather unexpectedly, have a new update for the game on our hands. I guess Konami doesn’t have much else to keep them busy these days.

The main thing added in the latest Metal Gear Solid V update, the first since August 2016, is the ability to play as Snake’s old frenemy Revolver Ocelot in Forward Operating Base missions. Here’s what Konami has to say about the addition:

You can now play as Ocelot to infiltrate FOBs. You cannot change the uniform or the head option, but Ocelot has a slightly increased camouflage value, and he reloads and draws his weapons faster. He can use one pistol in each hand with the TORNADO-6. He can also use ricochet bullets on marked enemies.

The new update also adds weird-looking new swimsuits, because sure, why not? These suits don’t offer any camouflage, but they let you run around a bit faster. You can check them out in the gallery, below.

Finally, the Wormhole Generator item has been upgraded so it will automatically extract players when they’re in a tight situation, and several bugs and issues have been fixed. And that’s about it! A year-long wait and one new character and some ugly swimsuits is all we get. Hopefully Konami keeps adding random annual updates to Metal Gear Solid V forever โ€“ in 2025 they can add new cardboard box patterns or something. Keep the game alive for eternity just to vex poor Kojima.

Speaking of which, Hideo Kojima’s next game, Death Stranding, arrives exclusively on PS4 in 2018. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Survive, a new zombie-infused take on the series, shambles onto PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in early 2018.
