This week, we’ll see who’s coming to Injustice 2, as a special reveal is set to go at the Gamescom event, in which we’ll know the next three faces that will be joining the cast. But that isn’t stopping the game’s director, Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios, from teasing what could be coming.
Boon did two things on his Twitter account that have us wondering what’s happening with the DLC pack. We’ve already heard teases that it could be anyone from Black Manta to Spawn (yes, that Spawn), but we’ll have to wait for official word this week.

Still that can’t help but leave us speculating what the below image means, which Boon tweeted out along with one word: “Gamescom.”

It’s a little hard to make out what this image is, but this could very well be a stage that appears in the game, as part of the new DLC pack. It appears to be quite a bit of rubble, indicating that someone – or something – caused this level of damage.
Another possibility is the image of what appears to be a spear in the right hand part of the stage – and it closely resembles the Spear of Destiny, which has been a staple in the DC Comics lexicon. Could this be part of the single player content that’s being teased for the game? We’ll have to wait a few days to find out.
However, there’s one other thing of interest here. Boon recently retweeted out an image posted by Alex Ross on Twitter a few days ago, which you can find below:

As you can see, that’s the Atom, the pint-sized hero who’s able to increase his size with ease. He was featured in this possible cast teaser months ago, which indicates that his appearance in the game could be happening. Then again, maybe Boon is just a fan of Ross’ artwork (it is pretty great), so it could just be nothing. Still, we can’t help but wonder…will we get a little pint-size love in the cast of Injustice 2?
We’ll bring you the official breakdown of fighters once they’re revealed at Gamescom this week.
Injustice 2 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
