There’s a “New” Alien Game Coming Out Soon and No One Is Talking About It

Somehow, a “new” Alien game has managed to slip under the radar of many fans and is on the verge of release. The Alien IP is one of the most respected horror franchises out there, having been terrifying people since the 70s. There have been a number of films, video games, and now TV shows based around the project, with many of them capturing the overwhelming sense of fear of being trapped inside of a claustrophobic and dark ship in the confines of space. The series has remained relevant because people have found new entry points, though. Aliens was far more action-heavy, for instance.

There are a number of Alien video games as well, but arguably the best one is Alien: Isolation. The game managed to immerse players in a world where the Xenomorph is hunting them with highly intelligent AI and more. It’s one of the most highly regarded horror games in the eyes of fans and a sequel to Alien: Isolation is also in the works. It took a long time to get off the ground, which left a void for Alien fans who wanted a new terrifying game to play. However, one game tried to fill the void: Alien: Rogue Incursion.

Alien: Rogue Incursion Comes to PS5 and PC This Month With New Non-VR Version

Alien: Rogue Incursion is a VR game that released in 2024 and it was pretty good, but a lot of people don’t have a VR headset to play it. Thankfully, developer Survios is bringing Alien: Rogue Incursion to traditional consoles and PC without VR this month via the “Evolved Edition.” The game is coming to PS5 and PC on September 30th, allowing players to blast apart Xenomorphs with the classic assault rifle. It looks a bit more action-y than Isolation, but will still probably be sure to spook some fans thanks to the first-person perspective adding a more immersive quality.

Alien: Rogue Incursion is also confirmed to be the first of a two part story, so there will be another game in the future. While it seems likely that VR will be the focus, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a more traditional non-VR version if this port does well. Alien: Rogue Incursion will run at 60FPS and is set in between the events of Alien and Aliens. Those who pre-order the game will also get an Alien: Romulus cosmetic pack that gives them a special gun and character skin themed around the 2024 film.

It’s great to see a VR game shedding its VR limitations to bring itself to more players. It would be surprising if this wasn’t part of the plan along given it takes a lot of work to take a game with that much interactivity and translate it to a controller or keyboard and mouse, but either way, it’s a smart play that gets more eyes on a great game.
