A new PlayStation 5 exclusive horror game has been announced and will be releasing next year. While most horror games tend to come to a variety of different platforms, PS5 has had a number of games in the genre that can’t be played anywhere else. Titles like Until Dawn, Silent Hill 2, and P.T. have all been exclusive to PlayStation consoles over the past decade, alongside plenty of others. Now, a new game will be joining this lineup in 2026, but many are already worried about its quality.

Announced this week, Psycho Dead is the name of the new horror game in question heading to PS5. Coming from developer Moon Catalyst, Psycho Dead follows a young girl who has psychic powers as she attempts to escape a lab that is filled with monsters and other assailants. The game is said to belong to the survival-horror genre, which means that it’s clearly trying to riff off of franchises like Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Beyond coming to PS5, Psycho Dead is also set to head to PC at some point in 2026.
Psycho Dead Doesn’t Look Promising
While it’s great to see another horror game coming to PS5 platforms, Psycho Dead doesn’t look like it’s shaping up all that well. The title’s latest trailer, which you can view above, looks obtuse and clunky, to say the least. Visuals seem dated and gameplay looks very stilted. To make it even worse, character models aren’t even remotely syncing up with their dialogue. Psycho Dead is obviously still pretty far off from its launch, but the game looks like it could be an absolute disaster.
Viewers in the comments section of the trailer seem to be in agreement that Psycho Dead doesn’t look like it will be worth playing. Some said that the game seems more like it’s being developed for PlayStation Vita rather than PS5, while others added that it looks like a single-A title. This is surely not the response that Moon Catalyst wanted out of the gate, but hopefully, it’ll take this feedback into account as it continues working on Psycho Dead moving forward.
