This summer's going to be chock full of game releases for PlayStation 4, but one you shouldn't overlook is Nex Machina, the forthcoming shooter from Housemarque, the creators of Resogun and Super Stardust. And this coming week, you may just have an opportunity to play it early.

The developer has announced that it will be launching a closed beta for the PS4, starting later this week and running through Thursday, June 1st. That means you'll have plenty of opportunity to check it out before it arrives next month.

Those that are interested in registering for the beta can do so here. It certainly never hurts to try.

That said, those who are selected for the beta will have to follow certain rules, as broken down by the developer below:

"No live streaming of the game is allowed at this point, but if you want to capture materials for later release on YouTube, we will have guidelines for content creation. All gameplay footage from the beta is open to be captured and used in videos.

Only UI and game menus are restricted in the current form. If a video contains UI or menu parts, it needs to be cleared on the 'media' Discord channel of the dedicated Nex Machina Discord hub. We will send invites to Discord for selected participants.

All videos to be published are recommended to be posted in the channel so they can be then shared on our social media."

The game looks to be a fun twin-stick shooter with plenty of variations. And it would probably help to mention that Eugene Jarvis, the creator of other classic twin-stick shooting arcade games like Robotron 2084 and Smash T.V., also took part in putting the game together, so it will definitely have that influence.

Those that are chosen for the beta will be notified in the next couple of days via email. For those that aren't selected, though, you shouldn't sweat it too much, as the game is set to arrive on June 20th for PlayStation 4 and PC. So you'll be able to get your hands on it soon enough…
