The Nintendo Switch hasn't been on the market that long, but it's already leaving a tremendous impact for Nintendo – and it's reached a new sales plateau in Japan as well.

The latest sales report for the system, which was posted by the Japanese publication Famitsu, noted that it has managed to surpass one million units sold since its release in Japan back in March. That's not even counting other worldwide sides, so that indicates that Nintendo could have a huge success on its hands.

Famitsu also reported that the system has managed to reach the one million sales mark in the same amount of time as the GameCube back when it was released many years ago, and has managed to reach it faster than Nintendo's previous console, the Wii U, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

That said, it doesn't quite count as Nintendo's fastest selling system ever, as the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS reached it in a shorter amount of time. Still, this kind of counts as a console, so it's still a remarkable feat in its own right.

The publication has also revealed the top five selling titles for the system, and it's surprising to see ARMS already has a pretty good place with over 150,000 units sold. But it's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that easily rules the day with over 500,000 units sold. Here's the top five:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 501,614 units sold
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 460,480 units sold
  • 1-2-Switch! – 200,807 units sold
  • ARMS – 154,845 units sold
  • Super Bomberman R – 92,112 units sold

Previous numbers indicated that the Switch has sold nearly a million units in the U.S. (a larger market than Japan), and has shipped over 2.74 million units thus far worldwide. While all the sales numbers haven't been revealed just yet, the Switch is in very high demand, and with big hits on the horizon – like Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey – it's a safe bet that sales won't die down anytime soon.

Now, if Nintendo could just do something to settle the high demand for the system. Let's see how well it restocks over the next few months…
