According to the company, the Switch ended up being the best selling piece of video game hardware for the month, just as it did for July. That said, its sales weren’t quite enough to make up for the general market sales for the month, as it only generated $568 million – two percent lower than 2016’s numbers.

Video game software took a big chunk of that amount, making up $271 million, which also saw a two percent drop from the previous year. That said, accessories did pick up, with a 10 percent increase to $118 million, including items like the Xbox One S Controller, Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, game cards and Turtle Beach headsets.

As for software, Madden NFL 18 was the king of the castle, which landed in the top spot. Grand Theft Auto V, still continuing to dominate the charts after all these years, took a hearty second place, while Sony’s spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy landed in third. Nintendo’s sequel Splatoon 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild rounded out the top five.
