This morning several eagle-eyed enthusiasts spotted a rating for Okami HD on the Korean rating board. We’re trusting our sources here because, full disclosure, we don’t read Korean. You can find the screen-cap right here:

Apparently a remaster of Okami HD is on the way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, since Okami HD is something that the Capcom faithful have been begging for for a long time now. It was only a matter of time before the game was announced, but with that said, the ratings do actually hold a couple of surprises: one pleasant, and one not so pleasant.

PC Version Incoming

Okami HD on the PC is going to be the definitive version, hands down. Assuming that Capcom is willing to put in a little bit of legwork and give us a few options, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t see Okami running at 4K, 60fps — even on what we might consider to be a mid-range gaming PC. Nvidia’s GTX 1060 is kind of the baseline card for high-end gaming, and a 1060 should have no problem pushing Okami in 4K, and possibly at 60fps if you’re willing to cut corners on certain visual settings.

No Nintendo Switch Version, Apparently

It does come as a bit shock that a re-release of Okami wouldn’t make its way to the Nintendo Switch, especially since Capcom and Nintendo typically have a great working relationship, and the original Okami made its way to the Wii. If Okami HD can run fine on the PlayStation 3, then there’s absolutely no reason why an enhanced port couldn’t perform really well on the Nintendo Switch. We would love to play this game on the go, or laying in bed, so hopefully Capcom hears the cry from fans.

Then again, Nintendo had to go out of its way to publish Monster Hunter Stories on the 3DS in North America, so this wouldn’t be the first time that Capcom proves tone-deaf. We’ll keep you updated. An announcement at this year’s Tokyo Game Show seems like a sure thing.
