Are you ready for your crazy story of the day? Earlier today the CIA released over half a million files recovered from Osama Bin Laden’s hard drive and, according to PC Gamer, Bin Laden was apparently a closet anime nerd. Either this was a community computer that was frequented by a few huge nerds, or Bin Laden really was a huge nerd, because there was a big collection of video games found on the hard drive as well.

It goes without saying that all of these movies, shows, and games were downloaded illegally. Even Bin Laden’s anti-virus was downloaded illegally. It’s almost juvenile, isn’t it? So what was Bin Laden (or one of his comrades) playing? It’s a pretty eclectic list.

Apparently Final Fantasy VII was found on the hard drive, and even the follow-up feature length film, Advent Children: Final Fantasy VII, was found on the hard drive. It had been watched. Someone was into Final Fantasy.

But that’s not all. Seeing Resident Evil on Bin Laden’s hard drive might not be that shocking, but Animal Crossing?! Yeah, there were loads of Nintendo DS games sitting on that hard drive, and that cute and cuddly sim was found alongside New Super Mario Bros.

So what about the anime?

It’s hard to imagine an old terrorist like Bin Laden sitting around playing video games, but it’s even harder to imagine Bin Laden bunched up in front of glowing screen watching anime. Be that as it may, plenty of anime was found on that hard drive.

Apparently there was a ton of Naruto found on the drive, alongside Bleach and Dragon Ball. How is this even possible? There’s no way he was watching all of this, right? Surely he was conducting some kind of evil research into the Western mind, and trying to analyze us through our entertainment. Either that or there was someone else using his computer.

There were even hardcore nerd cross-over anime series found. The entire Devil May Cry anime series was discovered, and even I haven’t made a point to check that out yet.

The true question is this: Do you guys think that Osama Bin Laden was actually playing and watching this stuff, or was someone else using his computer?

Was it really Bin Laden?
