If you’ve been active in the Overwatch scene during the past couple of weeks, you’ve no doubt taken part in some of the Anniversary Event festivities that the game’s been offering. From new maps to special loot boxes that include new Legendary skins and unique sprays, there were plenty of things that players could look forward to receiving. But one of the Anniversary Event additions that was most popular was the dance emotes, emotes that the voice actors of the Overwatch heroes recently took the time to act out themselves.

Uploaded by Anjali Bhimani, better known as the voice behind the Photon-flinging Symmetra, the video features the Overwatch voice actors doing their best to do the dance emotes justice. She gives the disclaimer that not all of them fully know their emotes and that some might be better than others. She’s right about that, but at least they’re entertaining whether they’re good or bad.
With the way that the video starts off โ a shaky camera, the background music, and an all-around goofy feel โ it may seem cheesy, but it’s pretty quickly apparent that the actors are having fun doing this. A lot of them were already together to show off their moves, so it really makes it seem like they’re getting along and enjoying themselves, something that definitely adds to the video.
The video takes the dance party from coast to coast, but even then, it doesn’t stop there. It reaches global levels towards the end of the video, bringing in the voice actors for heroes such as Mei, Orisa, and even a black-and-white Widowmaker dance.
If nothing else, this video gives a good look at who’s doing the talking when you’re controlling your favorite heroes. Some of them look like they could fit the role well, while the matchups between others may surprise people. I could certainly see Josh Petersdorf filling the role of Roadhog, but seeing Crispin Freeman as Winston was a bit surprising.
As far as the dance emotes are concerned in the game, lots of players are enjoying them, but some are a bit ticked that the emotes won’t be unlockable after the Anniversary Event ends. You’ll still be able to use them, but they won’t be added into the normal loot box rewards.
The Overwatch Anniversary Event is set to end on June 12, so make sure you get in your dancing and double XP while you can.
