Blizzard’s hit FPS Overwatch took the gaming community by storm with its immediate success and surprising in-depth substories. With the newly released comic about the heroes Roadhog and Junkrat, it’s not surprising that the team over at Blizzard are going full steam ahead with a new character to add to their growing roster.

Now that Junkertown is in PTR, many Overwatch players have been trying to de-mystify the mysterious “Hero 26”. Just like with past releases, there are clues littered all over for those with a keen eye and the latest map to hit the test realm is no different. Many believe that this “Hero 26″ is the Queen of Junkertown”, which makes sense given that her likeness can be seen everywhere in the new map. Though if Blizzard is intending this to be another Doomfist fiasco, she could just be a decoy for the real character to be unveiled.
In a recent interview, Jeff Kaplan, the Overwatch game director, sat down to discuss a little bit about the upcoming hero. He was careful not to give too much away but he did let it slip that the development is already pretty far along and that they are “very playable and very fun.”

Kaplan did add, “It’s not coming out as soon as you think, but Hero 26 is already amazing!” The team behindย Overwatchย have been working hard on new content after the head himself promised “tons” more of interesting things coming to fans of the shooter’s lore. New comics, new animated, new shorts, and … yes, even new heroes.
For those that have been playing the hit FPS from the creators ofย World of Warcraft, new aspects have been released recently such as the popular Team Deathmatch and the long-awaited Doomfist. The latest animated short however was the first teaser into what Hero 26 could possibly be, but with all of the new content coming to the title – it’s all speculation at this point.ย
With BlizzConย looming around the corner this November, it is possible the team may be waiting for the big reveal then. If the new hero “isn’t coming as soon as you think” though, it may be longer yet. Withย Overwatchย taking center stage, even bleeding into other games from Blizzard such as Heroes of the Storm, it’s almost guaranteedย that we’ll haveย something exciting coming our way at the annual celebration.ย
Overwatchย is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Did you know that there is another free weekend event to try out the shooter at no cost? Find out when and where right here.ย
