For the past few years, avid first-person shooter fans that have looking for a good collaborative effort have been finding it with PayDay 2, which has been released across a number of platforms. The bank robbery/heist oriented game has been a big hit, and we'll be seeing more of it in the future, as a third chapter is already in development.

In the meantime, however, Starbreeze is already hard at work on bringing it to another medium – virtual reality. During the company's live stream today, it revealed that the full game will be making its way to VR headsets, making the action even more visceral than it could've ever been, as you literally step into the shoes of a bank robber and feel the tension of a full-blown shootout.

The trailer, which can be seen above, provides a glimpse of how frenetic the action can really get, and will cover a number of missions, in which you'll have to work as a team in order to make the perfect getaway – or die trying, to say the least.

The game will be offered free of charge to those that currently own the game on PC. Furthermore, if you've unlocked any sort of content for the game, or purchased any downloadable content, that will be included as well, so you don't have to worry about making up all that progress to get the goods.

PayDay 2 VR will also feature cross-play support, so you can join up with others whether you're playing in virtual reality or with the normal edition. This is good news, as it won't shut out players for a limited virtual reality space, and instead lets them game on with everyone else.

An exact VR headset hasn't been revealed yet in terms of where PayDay 2 will go, but the demo was played with HTC Vive controllers, so that could be a likely stop. Considering it wants VR support across the board, though, don't be surprised if it shows up on Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR as well.

A release date hasn't been provided just yet, but a beta is set to kick off later this year, if you want to try the game before picking it up. We'll have more details soon!
