Persona 5 has sold over 1.5 million copies. By JRPG standards, it’s a hit, and you can bet that Atlus has big plans to milk Persona 5 as hard as it milked Persona 4. In fact, we may already know the first spin-off game coming down the pipeline: Persona Q2. Persona Q, for those who don’t know, was a 3DS game that launched back in 2014 with an all-new story combining the characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4, along with a dungeon-crawling experience typically only found in dungeon RPGs like Etrian Odyssey.

Anyway! We’re looking forward to a Persona Q2 announcement some time soon thanks to a “pq2.jp” domain getting moved over to Atlus nameservers that Atlus uses for its websites. A translator who goes by the name “Mystic” took to Twitter to explain what’s happening.
“Persona Q 2 is most likely happening,” he said, “as the domain pq2.jp is now on the nameservers Atlus uses for their websites. Atlus did this before, back when P5 was being officially announced. When P5 was a week away from announcement, they moved the domain over. Now we are less than a week from the concert and the PQ2 domain is on a dedicated server. Well, not too hard to get what is happening.” The concert he’s referring to is taking place in Yokohama, Japan. It will be a huge event celebrating the Persona series.
After some confusion set in at his initial analysis, Mystic went on to explain: “Pq2.jp was registered by Atlus earlier this year. What changed today is that the domain moved nameservers. It is now sharing the same IP and server as for p-atlus.jp, which was a domain used for Persona spinoff titles and Persona news. Now, due to it not being configured, it is just acting as an alternate URL for p-atlus.jp. Of course, this is going to change as the event approaches and things start ramping up.”
So if Mystic is correct, we can probably expect an announcement next week, very likely during the concert, which is taking place August 2 in Japan. Since our Eastern pals live in the future, we could actually catch wind of this new game on Tuesday here in the West.
Either way, we don’t have long to wait!
