PlayStation has finally confirmed that it will be holding a new State of Play presentation this week on September 24th. The event is set to last roughly 35 minutes in total and is known to feature new gameplay footage from Saros, the upcoming PS5 exclusive from developer Housemarque. Other than this, details on what will appear at this State of Play are nonexistent for the time being, leaving us with only assumptions of what might be shown off.

To that end, here are three predictions that I think are most likely to end up being correct at this PlayStation State of Play. There’s no guarantee that any of these predictions will come true, but given how PlayStation has operated in recent years, they’re the ones I have the most confidence in.
1. Wolverine Will Indeed Make an Appearance

The biggest rumor going into this State of Play is that Insomniac Games will finally break the silence surrounding Marvel’s Wolverine. Announced all the way back in 2021, news on Wolverine has been nonexistent for the past four years, outside of the leaked footage of the project that hit the internet in the wake of Insomniac being hacked. We still don’t know when Wolverine is going to release, what its story will center around, or what it will look like to actually play. I’m of the mind that all of this will change by tomorrow.
The thing that truly makes me believe that Marvel’s Wolverine will make an appearance this week is based on PlayStation’s State of Play from this time last year. At that event, PlayStation unveiled Ghost of Yotei for the first time, which began its marketing push for the title that will culminate in a launch in a little over a week. Assuming that Wolverine is the PS5’s big exclusive for Fall 2026, I think PlayStation will lean on this same strategy and reveal the game this week to begin the path toward its release in roughly one year.
2. Don’t Expect to See Anything From Intergalactic

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet was revealed by PlayStation at the end of 2024, and it’s likely one of the publisher’s biggest upcoming games. Coming from developer Naughty Dog, anticipation is high to see what this new IP from the creators of The Last of Us and Uncharted will have in store.
Unfortunately, I think there’s almost no chance that we’ll see Intergalactic at this State of Play. When the game was shown off last year, it was stressed to still be pretty far out from its launch. To me, that indicates that this is going to be one of the final exclusives from PlayStation that ends up releasing on PS5, either in 2027 or 2028. While I would love to be wrong and get a deeper glimpse at Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet this week, I instead think we’ll be left waiting until sometime in 2026 to see more of it in action.
3. Rumored God of War Game Finally Gets Announced

One of the most notable PlayStation rumors that has circulated this year is that a new God of War game is in the works and will be revealed soon. Rather than be a new mainline game after the events of God of War Ragnarok, though, this project is said to be smaller in scope and might even be a Metroidvania title. It’s also said to take place earlier in the God of War timeline and will take players back to Greece.
Given the sheer number of credible rumors and reports that have been going around about this God of War game, I’m inclined to believe that it’s absolutely real. As such, the perfect time to unveil it to the world would be at this State of Play. It would provide PlayStation with another major first-party game to highlight and would help fill the gap until the next big God of War entry releases, presumably in a few years. Whether or not this GoW game will launch in 2025 or 2026 remains to be seen, but I have confidence that this is the time that we’ll finally get a look at it.
