Pokemon Go doesn’t seem to be holding back on events lately; the game just recently wrapped up its Solstice event that was centered around Fire and Ice Pokemon, during which more of each type’s rarer Pokemon would appear around the globe.

The past event gave players the chance to nab many rare Pokemon, even some evolved versions such as Houndoom, Piloswine, and Arcanine. Along with the increased chance to catch these Fire and Ice Pokemon, players were also able to experience some pretty impressive bonuses when it came to their daily actions such as catching Pokemon and nailing the curve bonus.

So why does it make sense for another event to be coming soon to Pokemon Go? With the big update now out that completely overhauled the gym system and added more opportunities to play with friends via the raid function, now is the perfect time for Niantic to show off the new content and demonstrate that Pokemon Go is back again and here to stay.

We know that the Pokemon Go Fest will be coming in July and that they have something planned for Pokemon Go’s birthday, but around those events, there are a couple of dates that look promising when considering when another event might be unveiled and what we can expect from it.

July 4

Pokemon Go New Years

This date is right around the corner, so Niantic will likely have to move quickly to let players know what’s going on, but it’s definitely still a strong possibility that we can expect something to occur on July 4.

With the update having rolled out so close to this date and with interest in Pokemon Go at a renewed high, scheduling an event, even a smaller one, for July 4 would be a wise decision to keep the momentum moving in Pokemon Go. People are going to be out and about on the streets for July 4 anyway, so players might as well try out the new gyms while they’re out.

When looking at the past events’ rewards, it looks like the bonuses tie into the holiday whenever they could. Halloween gave players more Candy, Easter brought about better bonuses for eggs, and so on. It’s hard to say whatย Pokemon-related ideas might be attributed to July 4, but Thanksgiving gave players double XP and Stardust, so that seems like a safe bet at a minimum. Starting an event with these smaller rewards on July 4 and continuing into the biggerย anniversary date two days later would keep the momentum going as well. There’s also the chance that Legendary Pokemon could make an appearance, but that seems more likely in the next possible event date.

Pokemon Go One-Year Anniversary

If players don’t see something for July 4, you can bet that Pokemonย Go wouldn’t let its one-year anniversaryย pass without an event to go along with it, perhaps one of the biggest that players have seen to celebrate the game’s first birthday.

Just two days after the Fourth of July on July 6, players will have been out catching Pokemonย in the real world for exactly one year. A rare Pikachuย is definitely on the table as a reward for players during the event as teased previously, but the rest of the details are a bit up in the air.

As mentioned in the previous slide, one of the best possible outcomes of a one-year anniversary event is the long-awaited unveiling ofย Pokemonย Go’sย Legendary Pokemon. Fans who have been following the game since it’s release will recall the teaser of players attempting to catch a Mewtwoย in Times Square, an opportunity that players have been waiting for ever since.

Legendary Raid Passes were thought to have been seen recently in the game, though it was confirmed that the news was fake. These Legendary Raid Passes will be coming eventually though, according to Niantic, and eventually could come as soon as during the one-year anniversary week. July 6 is just before the weekend this year, so that would give players an excellent opportunity to get out there and take on some Level 5 raids or hunt some Legendary Pokemon.

International Day Of Friendship

Towards the end of July, the International Day of Friendship will be helping to close out the month. The global unity holiday began in 2011 as an initiative from the United Nations, but what might the day mean for Pokemon Go players?

One smaller bonus that players could look forward to deals with the buddy system that was recently included in Pokemon Go. Through this system, players could select a Pokemon to be their walking buddy, and as they walked, that Pokemon would be able to find Candies to help it level up. You’d have to keep it with you instead of placing it in a gym, but the International Day of Friendship would be a prime opportunity to let players gain more Candies for walking the same distances or have them earn more Candy by walking less.

Another possible reward involves the new raid system. Through these raids, up to 20 players take on powerful Pokemon in either a public or private raid. These trials certainly involve players working together, so additional Raid Passes per day and increased raid bonuses seems like a no-brainer.

If they don’t do an event on this day, they can always look to do it on a similar holiday, Friendship Day, that will take place on Aug. 6. It’s very likely that we could see the event run from one day to the other as that would be a perfect length for aย Pokemonย Goย event.

Pokemon Go Fest

If none of these other dates hold up as far as future events go, players can at least count on the Pokemonย Go Fest to make up for an otherwise quiet period between the big update and the game’s first live event.

Pokemonย Go Fest was teased and announced recently as a large-scale event that will take place on July 22 in Chicago, but players who aren’t able to make it to the Windy City will still be able to take place in the event’s festivities. Not long after the event was announced, the tickets sold out quickly, and players are having a bit of a hard time finding them for reasonable prices on third-party sites.

In preparation for the event, details on what players could expect to take part in were recently unveiled; lounge areas, player support, and something promising called “The Ultimate Gym” are just a couple of the things offered at the event that some speculate could also feature some Legendary Pokemonย housed in the big gym. If players are lucky, an earlier event such as the anniversary could unveil Legendary Pokemonย and give players time to get hyped for more at the Pokemonย Go Fest event.
