Earlier today, Pokemon Go launched a new Halloween Event, with some new Pokemon and other new goodies for players. One of the selling points of the new event was a special Pikachu wearing a Witch’s Hat to celebrate the spooky season.

However, once players started grabbing and hatching eggs during the event, they realized that they could also find a “Witch Hat” Pichu by hatching 2 KM eggs. While this isn’t exactly a surprise for players who followed a datamine of the game’s most recent update, it’s nice to get confirmation that this special Pokemon is obtainable during the event.

The “Witch Hat” Pichu is the second surprise Pokemon that Pokemon Go added for its Halloween event. Developers also added a Shiny Sableye to the game without announcing it to players.

This is the second time that Pichu has gotten a costume for a special event. Pokemon Go previously added a Pichu wearing one of its Ash Ketchum hats to celebrate the one year anniversary of the game.

In addition to catching a Halloween Hat Pichu, players can also now find five new Pokemon that were originallyย found in the Hoenn region. These “Gen 3” Pokemon are all Ghost-Type Pokemon, which is perfect considering the time of year.ย

The Halloween event also has increased spawns of Cubone, Marowak, Gastly, Haunter, Gengar,ย Misdreavus, Zubat, Golbat, Crobat, Houndour, and Houndoom.ย

Players can also earn double candy for catching, transferring, hatching, and evolving Pokemon, and buy special boxes filled with discounted items for the duration of the event.

The Halloween event will run through November 1st, so players better get moving if they want to ensure they get one of these special Pichu!ย
